The Alameda MOAA Chapter works with the community to support our active and retired military.  In addition to our annual support of ROTC students in three of the six armed  services  with scholarships of $1,000 or $,1500 each given to deserving students, we support several other programs including Honor Flight - Bay Area,, the  V A Medical Center outdoor garden,  Coast Guard Ball and Benefits Fund and many others, averaging over $1,000 each year.  Our Chapter is exempt from U S (and California) income tax under Internal Revenue Code Section 501 ( c ) (19).  Contributions to us are deductible by donors under Section 170  ( c )  (3).

    The Alameda County Chapter of MOAA actively participates in supporting the Army, Navy and Air Force ROTC units at University of California, Berkeley. 

    Annually, the chapter awards $1,500 scholarships to nominated students showing outstanding achievement in academics, leadership, strong indication of completion of their training and receiving an officer commission plus financial need.
